In and On, House

We are working on some prepositions, "in, on, out".  I made a little cardboard house and my older daughter very kindly painted it.  We found a few images, cat, dog, bird, and car and laminated them.  Adeline and I played "in the house, on the house, and out of the house".  This can be done very simply or more challenging if a different direction is give for each item.  This activity really required Adeline to listen to directions and at times she did not want, to she wanted to do her own thing, so we will play with this more later.

We also did this activity with our little peoples, they went "in the car", "on the house" and "in the house".

Adeline's Favorite Author

Adeline loves John Butler's books and I have to admit I think I like them as much as she does.  These books are very simple with clear large realistic pictures of animals and with just a few words on each page.  Adeline is not at the stage where she enjoys listening to wordy stories so this is one of the best.  The stories rhyme and have many examples of animals sounds.  Great for imitating.

Number Snowflakes

We are matching numbers on snowflakes!  If you don't save your milk caps you might want to start, they are the best little chips to use for matching.  I have been saving mine for years, so I have a lot.  Today I took a snowflake pattern and wrote the numbers through five on each, I then wrote the matching number on a milk cap. Adeline matched the number together.  This activity could be extended to any amount.  This is the link for the snowflake pattern.
