Adeline is not a very good fruit and vegetable eater, but she will drink them, so she drinks many green and fruit smoothies. In my last post I told you about the Tar Heel Reader website that I have recently discovered. I am using a lot of ink but it is sooo worth it. Today I finished this Fruit and Vegetable book. I wanted to make it interactive so I had my wonderful daughter find some google images to match each page and print them up. I laminated everything and added velcro to the interactive pieces.
Adeline already has a background knowledge of her fruits because we have used these cards in our Little Reader Program. This program has helped me help Adeline in so many ways. She is learning to say the words as she is learning to comprehend and read the words
We worked on "cut the carrot" "cut the apple" to add some connection between the book and our Melissa and Doug fruits and vegtables.
We did not work on these today but here are a couple fruit puzzles that we also work on at times. The top puzzle Adeline has had for quit awhile it is larger with big nobs and bottom has the tiny little nobs that she is starting to move into.

I love your ideas. It is our last week doing food and we made a book about food as well, but I like the fruit and veggie book idea. We may still be able to use it as we will be doing plants soon. Thanks for sharing on Thinky Linky Thursday!
