Exploring the Ocean-- sensory fun

Today we did some exciting sensory play.  We visit the ocean often so I thought it would be fun to create our own, and talk about vocabulary from the ocean.  We talked about fish, sand, water and boats.  I have found that sensory activities really bring out a lot of words and discussion.

I set the table up with sand, water and shells and let Adeline and Ian go to it.  This activity  not only worked on speech but also fine motor skills.  We dug, scooped and poured.

Yes, Adeline wanted to use a paint brush.

When we were done we cleaned off in the pool.

  1. Yay for the beach. I want to make a beach sensory bin this summer too! I love the balls in the pool idea as well. Thanks for linking up to Thinky Linky Thursday!
