Today we are working more on gross motor skills. We did some squatting to stand, up and down. Work those muscle and build our blance.
We held a bean bag up high and made Adeline reach up for it and then squat to put the bean bag in the bucket. No dropping to a sit. If your child is not a stander yet this also work great while sitting on a stool.
Next, I want to get Adeline ready to walk on a row of telephone books. The telephone books serve as a wide balance beam. They do need to be taped well with duck tape. This activity builds muscles to improve the gait. Today I just want Adeline to stand on one book. Oh, she did not like it but I did distract her a little with her hoop waving.
We switched to two books to do our waving. She feels a little better about that.
Another skill I want to prepare Adeline for is to walk on a line of masking tape on the floor. This also works the gait. So today we walked a line of paper. She thought this was fun. As she becomes a better walker I can add some things to challenge her more. Such as turns and curves and slopes or bumps, for now this is good.
These are FANTASTIC ideas for working on gross motor skills. Adeline is soooo beautiful! What a precious gift!!! Would you please share this with our readers for Fun Stuff Fridays? http://www.toysinthedryer.com/2011/12/fun-stuff-fridays-2.html
