Teddy bear counters are a wonderful manipulative for early math skills. My 6 year old uses them right now for counting practise and learning addition. When I have these out Adeline always seem interested, so today I put together a list of things to do with teddy bear counters for early learners.
Playing with bears in corn starch.
Working with tongs, ladle and bears in water.
Sorting colors with foam rectangles.
Sorting in a muffin tin.
One on One correspondence.
Patterning

ReplyDeleteGreat ideas - We LOVE LOVE LOVE teddy bear counters. Not sure where I found my big ones, but I have the regular size ones and a small set of large ones. My toddler loves doing most of the things you mentioned with them!!! Best investment ever!

So many fun ideas! I don't have teddy bears, but will have fun using these same thoughts with other manipulatives.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set of activities. I am so impressed that Adeline will do all the activities. Goblin would do the colour matching because he likes it but he flat out refuses to try patterns and one to one correspondence is more like one to three.
